20 Things You Can Get Free on a Cruise (Just Ask) 🆕

The Guest Services desk is hiding a treasure chest most passengers walk right past.

I'm talking free seasickness meds, complimentary cabin upgrades (if you ask at the right moment), portable fans, international power adapters, sports gear, spa demo freebies, and 15 more perks that are just sitting at the Guest Services desk waiting for someone with the nerve to ask — and almost nobody does.

The crew isn't hiding this stuff, they're just not announcing it — and the passengers who know this list will have a wildly better cruise than the ones who don't. Screenshot this before your next sailing:

The #1 Rated Caribbean Experience of 2026 🌸

It's not a beach. It's not a resort. And it just beat everything else on the island.

A study ranking Caribbean experiences by five-star TripAdvisor reviews just dropped for 2026 — and Hunte's Gardens in Barbados took the top spot with a 90.2% excellence rating, beating out beaches, boat tours, and every all-inclusive amenity on the list. Stingray City in Grand Cayman, the Diamond Caves, and Jamaica's Blue Hole also cracked the top tier, and the full breakdown will have you rerouting your next trip faster than you planned.

Some of these I had no idea were even on the radar — the full ranked list is worth a look:

Whale Shark Season Is Almost Here 🏈

The gentle giants start showing up mid-May — and you can swim with them from Cozumel.

Every year between mid-May and mid-September, hundreds of whale sharks — the largest fish on earth at up to 40 feet long — gather off the coast of Isla Mujeres and Isla Contoy, about 70 miles from Cozumel. During one census, scientists counted over 400 of them at once. You can't dive with them (protected area rules), but you snorkel right alongside them in open water, and tour operators run ferry-and-boat day trips from Cozumel starting at the ferry dock in San Miguel.

Peak season is July to mid-August, so if you're planning a summer Cozumel trip, block that calendar now — here's everything you need to know about swimming with sharks from the island:

The Caribbean Islands Where Your Money Goes the Furthest 🏠

If island living is on the vision board, these are the places that actually make the math work.

A new 2026 ranking of the best Caribbean islands to retire on breaks down what a comfortable life actually costs — and the numbers are more achievable than most people expect. The Dominican Republic consistently tops the budget list, with locals and expats living well for around $1,500 a month. Roatán, Honduras offers beachfront retirement for $2,000–$2,500 all-in per couple, and Dominica — the “Nature Island” — has 1-bedroom apartments under $500/month with zero personal income tax on foreign earnings.

The full breakdown covers 10 islands with real rent numbers, healthcare notes, and the trick that makes or breaks your budget on each one:
